Halifax Rambling & Social Club

Image description

Our Club
We’re a friendly and sociable group of people from all walks of life, who all
have one thing in common – a love of walking.

We walk every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday all year round and hold a club night each
month from October to March.

We always welcome newcomers to come and try our walks and there is no reason to be put
off if you are on your own.
Walking in a group is a good way to meet other people and talk.

However, it is also worth highlighting  that you can also find your own space so there is always a quiet time to think if you want that too.

The Halifax rambling and social club  is made up of some 300+ members
with a hard core of around 50 to 60 who are regular walkers.

We are a very active and friendly group and our base is the Calderdale and
surounding areas, although anyone is welcome to choose us as their group wherever they live.

Join us for a Walk
You don't have to be a member to come on a walk with us to see if it's for you.
You can try up to two walks before deciding if you like us enough to join the club.

We have a full year's syllabus of Thursday,Saturday and Sunday walks all leader lead.

Membership per annum Adults  £5.00

Children under 16  £2.50p

How fit do I need to be

We offer a typical range of walks from 4 to 14 miles.

A general level of fitness is required, however you will be surprised how the miles will simply go by on a walk and you may look back in amazement at the distance you have covered at the end of the day.

Equipment?

A suitable pair of walking boots/shoes, warm and waterproof clothing, a rucksack, packed lunch /drinks is all you need to get you started.

What characteristics do I need?

Just a sense of adventure and some humour  and don't mind getting wet or muddy at times.

We walk in the sun, wind, rain and snow and say there’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes.

We walk in all seasons and nearly all weathers!
